Leaving the EU allowed the UK to increase the spending limits on contactless payments during the Covid pandemic, allowing customers to be processed with a reduced risk of infection – and more quickly and easily thereafter.
The EU’s ‘Dark Pool caps’ suspended such trades above a fixed level. The FCA stopped applying Volume Caps to UK equities in Dec 2020 and then to all equities traded in the UK in March 2021. This was formalised in the Financial Services Bill in July 2022.
In Sep 2021 the UK signed a trilateral security and defence partnership with the USA and Australia, known as the AUKUS agreement. As an EU member, the UK was limited to working within the EU Common Foreign & Security Policy – preventing such an agreement.
Brexit saves UK motorists on average £50 a year extra on their motor insurance premiums, by avoiding the impact of a controversial decision made by the European Courts to mandate insurance for vehicles on private land.
By leaving the EU and its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to set up an identical one independently, the UK is now able to retain 100% of the billions in revenue received, instead of an EU allocation of a percentage after the EU took 25% off the top.
